The Garden

Yamaha MD8 Recording

Real Audio 80k

I've recorded this song several times, and none have sounded as good as the first recording, which was done using headphones as a microphone! Yup, it works, and when that's all you've got, you gotta make due. This particular recording was done 'live' to the Yamaha MD8. This one tends to be a favorite.

Never Fade Away Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

This was one of those songs where you get inspired and wham bam DONE! Well, it had a third verse that I forgot to track the instruments and didn't catch it till I went to do the vocal tracks. The song was written, sequenced, and recorded for Anissa in less than 8 hours! (She went shoppin)

No Name PC Multi-track Recording
Real Audio 80k

Originally sequenced and recorded on the PC. The song has lyrics, but this recording was out of my singing range. This one will be revisited with the AW4416.

Blues 101 MD Deck 'Live' Recording
Real Audio 80k

This was recorded 'live' to a Sony MiniDisc deck while playing guitar and singing with a slightly modified midi file I found on the net. (I don't know the original source of the midi file) I will probably eventually redo this one with all original parts and real instruments.

Covers

Cinnamon Girl PC Multi-track Recording
Real Audio 80k

Neil Young Cover
Probably the most successful (and last) recording made on my PC. Shortly after I realized that I wasn't going to get as many tracks as I'd like out of my old PC, I purchased the MD8.

Pink Moon Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

Nick Drake Cover
I heard this cool song on a volkswagon commercial and I had to find out who did it. I had never even heard of Nick Drake, and was dissapointed that he had come and gone in about 3 years. I would urge anyone to check out his stuff. Reminds me of old Donovan stuff.

One Headlight MD Deck 'Live' Recording
Real Audio 16k

Wallflowers Cover
The Dylan offspring really hit hard when I first heard it. Haven't followed them much since the first album, but we heard this song about 100 times on our honeymoon in Orlando. I had to record it when I got home. Recorded 'live' while playing guitar and singing along with a midi file. I only have a 16k RA file for this one, but I may have it on a CD somewhere.

Angel Song Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

Tom PettyCover
This was the absolute first song I sang to my (now) wife. It's got a special meaning between us so I have to keep it in the playlist. I've recorded this one a few times, and will probably do it again.

My Own Prison PC Multi-track Recording
Real Audio 80k

Creed Cover
I heard this song about six months before it actually hit. Having lived in Tallahassee, then hearing they were from there, my ears perked up. I said "this one's gonna hit" and then eventually it did. Unfortunately I don't appreciate them as much nowadays, but they are still a very talented group. This sure as heck ain't the best cover you'll ever hear, but I had fun doing it. (And no I won't be redoing this one)

If Only Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

Queens Of The Stone Age Cover
If you ever need to be bored to death with yappin about someone you've never even heard of, just ask me about Chris Goss of Masters Of Reality. QOTSA is in a strange way related, and I've been following anything he touches since the late 80's when I heard the first release. This song SUX when I do it, but I'll get there. I've pulled the tracks over to the 4416 from the MD8 and will probably just redo the whole thing. Drums and keys are sequenced by me on this one as well.

Interstate Love Song Yamaha MD8 'Live' Recording
Real Audio 80k

Stone Temple Pilots Cover
You already know this song, but did you know that my 'hero' Chris Goss produced one of their albums? Okay I'll shut up about it already. This is one I like to play solo acoustic style, but I was going through a midi craze at the time.

Fearless Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

Pink Floyd Cover
From the album "Meddle" I've always been pretty fond of this simple song and it's simple message. I've pulled these tracks over to the 4416 but will probably just redo it from scratch again. It's worthy of it IMO.

Wish You Were Here Yamaha MD8 Recording
Real Audio 80k

Pink Floyd Cover
I'm probably #1,093,245 to redo this song, but it's a classic. This one's fun to play as a live acoustic duet, if you can find someone who knows how to play it properly.

The Band "Three" (For lack of a better name)

Greg Brashear-Drums Ed Brown-Bass Lee Roberson-Lead Guitar / Vocals

Woah we're diggin' deep now. Most of these songs were recorded during the last of the practice sessions in 1993 in Greg's garage, using a Boom-box or Cassette Deck. I sure as heck miss Greg's drumming and hope to someday get him over to track the drums on a proper recording of the originals we wrote back in the old days. I'd redo most of these songs but there's a part of me that's used to hearing them like they are for so long that I don't want to change anything. .

Come On Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Jimi Hendrix Cover
One of my favorite Hendrix tunes. We used to have a load of fun playing this one.

No Speak No Slave Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Black Crowes Cover
We played quite a bit of the Crowes and Zeppelin back then. Hurts my throat too much now, and I'll never be that skinny. Heck I could eat both of them and still have room for dessert.

Like You Care Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
This one will be revisited. It's a favorite of the peeps that used to endure the mind numbing garage days.

Confused Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
One of my roommates (Matthew) used to write a lot of poetry and songs. He wanted me to put some music to his song, and I think I pissed him off when I only kept the first few lines of his lyrics. Didn't mean to change it, but I was inspired by what he wrote, but in a different direction. I told him "now we've got two songs" and at least he quit telling me I was playing it wrong.

There Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
Inspired by an 'all-nighter' and still incomplete lyrically. This was the first song I wrote for the band. There's a better recording of it somewhere. I still play an acoustic version of this one and will probably redo it with the AW4416.

Nobody Asked You Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
One of several songs written after arguing endlessly with my former girlfriend (AKA BUTTCHEESE). I think the frustration is evident in this one, and the relationship still went on for another five years.

Parts Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
Okay, this one needs some explaining. Greg had a really cool song he wrote, but drums only. He asked me to put some guitar to it, and we came up with a 'The Who' kinda thing. I had a sheet titled 'parts' that I wrote little phrases on, and that's where the uninspired lyrics came from. I think the song itself deserves to be finished, but would be incomplete without the original drummer.

Tell Me... Old Band Tape
Real Audio 80k

Original Tune
This song has a lot of energy and drive for it to be so dissappointing lyrically. I like the verses okay, but I still need a 'hook' line for the chorus.
